Courses Offered Summer 2004
Most courses begin on the week of September 20, and go for
approximately ten weeks. Not all courses have detailed outlines yet;
those which don't, are so noted.
If you have questions regarding, or would like to attend, any of these
courses, email the course facilitator. Please send a copy (CC) to
info@anarchistu.org.
Alternatively you can come to one of our meetings; the time and place
for upcoming meetings are posted on the
WebHome page.
Starting in May
- The History of Ruling Elites
- Starts: Wednesday, May 5
- Facilitator: Chris (tha_method@hotmail.com)
- Time: Wednesdays, 6 pm to 9 pm
- Overview: This course will examine not only ruling elites but also the nature of hierarchy, power and class, and the relationships between those who rule and those who are ruled.
Starting in July
- Rediscovering Canadian Queer History
- Starts: Tuesday, July 13
- Facilitator: Dwayne Shaw (keepcomingout@hotmail.com)
- Time: Tuesdays, 7 pm to 9 pm
- Summary: Queer history typically is not passed down from generation to generation through the schools, the churches, or the biological family, it's incredibly important to preserve the fundamental documentary material on which GLBT historical writing and other forms of cultural production are based.
- VisionsOfProgress
- Starts: Thursday, July 8
- Facilitator: Kathleen Batstone
- Time: Thursdays, 7 to 9 pm
- Summary: This course is designed to get us thinking and talking about what constitutes progress from both a societal and individual perspective. At a time when it seems that every new technological innovation is automatically hailed as progressive, it is important that we develop strategies to evaluate whether ideas and inventions are not just different, but also make our lives better.
