Exercise for Presence When Energetically Split Off

There are many ways to get present. One of the easiest is to use your senses.

Begin: To bring yourself back to your senses, use your eyes.

Step 1: Aloud, quickly list the colours and objects you see around you, e.g. blue shirt, green pants, brown chair, red fire, etc. The faster you do this exercise, the better. Going slowly just helps maintain your split-off stance.

Step 2: Notice if you get into a repetitive rut, where you're not really paying keen attention (red pillow, black pillow, yellow pillow. Make sure you say both colour and object for each thing you see (red pillow, gold lamp, white wall). Look closely, focus on what you are looking at, and get present.

Exercise for Presence When Energetically Cut Off

Begin: To bring yourself back to your senses, become keenly aware of your body.

Step 1: Start at your toes. Say, "Now I am aware of my toes." Move your toes. Tighten your toes as much as you can, and let go. "Now I am aware of the bottom of my foot." Flex your foot. Tighten and release. "Now I am aware of my ankle." Now rotate your ankle. Tighten and release.

Step 2: Continue heightening your awareness by tightening and releasing each area as you travel up through your body, paying attention to the sensations and emotions this activity creates.
