Here are some rough notes from a preliminary discussion:

Session Goals

• get people excited – create positive energy
• we want to know what people are bringing to the table
• what they are interested in, what they are willing to work on
• figure out ways to guide the discussion throughout the day
• identify major themes that will be returned to in the last session

Part 1. discussion of personal motivations (full group)

• why did you come today? (go around and get everyone to introduce themselves 1 minute per person)
• whats your favourite thing about (the idea of) AFU
• If another meeting like this was happening in 5 years, what would you like the history section to include as new highlights?

Part 2. More focused discussion of answers to that last question?

• identify affinities amongst participants, and facilitate break-off conversations/smaller groups along thematic lines?
• Come out of the session with overarching themes to consider thru day, with an eye to starting potential projects in the WhereDoWeGoFromHere session
