The FMTA is part of the City of Toronto, funded by the City as long as the FMTA tows the line and does not challenge the dorks at City Hall. Of course, showing support for rent strikes or unruly actions by anarchist leaning groups like OCAP is definitely out of the question for the FMTA. As long as the FMTA does their government job, they are assured of new funding - now over $400,000.00. The FMTA falsely claims to represent ALL the tenants in greater Toronto and viciously attacks other tenant groups until they DISAPPEAR.

THE DISAPPEARED One of these tenant organizers Sam fled Toronto for Belleville a few years ago; another, Tim Roarke fights back verbally in a cyber-bubble of isolation and frustration at http://www.qaz.ca/fmta.html; another Paul York of the (GTTA) Greater Toronto Tenants' Association was smashed; and lastly, a poor disabled guy in failing health whom the FMTA's proxy 'Badmouth Spokesperson' has dubbed Jew Boy , is the last tenacious holdout. In poverty he courageously fights on in a losing battle.

Many of these Toronto bureaucrats and politicians and their lap poodle NGO 'centres of power' are getting nervous because the older ones remember the the late sixties when the MTA (no relation) marched (2000 strong according to the Toronto Star) on the Ontario Legislature and scared the politicians into passing the "1971 Landlord Tenant Act"

( WATCH OUT - Most of the above is below the radar of all the Toronto politicians and all the Toronto NGOs. You'll be eyed suspiciously by almost everyone if you say something critical about the FMTA. How can this be? To understand, one has to know a little about Ottawa's tenant movement history. Ottawa had enough of the expensive grantsmanship schemes of the Ottawa tenants federation, so they cut his funding off completely. He fled from Ottawa to Toronto and injected himself into the FMTA. Armed with the experience of the bitter defeat in Ottawa, the fake FMTA has now learned how to play Toronto's politicians and fake NGOs for more and more unnecessary funding.
