course proposals

  • re-presentation of "The Bible for People Who Hate the Bible" (originally presented at the picnic) by Tony. A critical reading guide to the Bible. Overall general approval from the meeting, with some concerns. General feeling was that most of the things that people had been concerned about when it was originally presented had been adressed. The primary remaining concern was about the presentation of a single person's views (however critical) on the Bible as the authoritative way to go about it. Tony adressed these by saying that the course was structured more as a way of knowing the general framework of the Bible, understanding it as a larger entity, making it accessible and thereby allowing people to approach it on their own. The class was approved, just needing a more concise class synopsis.

hosting guelph free-skool website

  • Possum presented a proposal by people starting up an Anarchist Free U in Guelph about possibly having their website hosted on the anarchistu.org site. There were questions raised about: anarchistU becoming an omnibus site where schools host; franchising out of the Anarchist U model; issues with hierarchical ordering of web domains and control over those domains. After discussion it was agreed that those larger issues could be further debated as the need arose (as there aren't exactly people beating their way to our door to have us host their free-skool site). and since the Guelph folks had approached us about this need, it was decided that it is only right that we help them out, and so we shall host their site. huzzah! ( The Guelph URL is http://www.anarchistu.org/twiki/view/Guelph/ )

Next meeting Oct. 2, Uprising 4 PM
