DIY Creative Writing Workshop

NOTE: THIS COURSE IS NOW FULL. A waiting list will be created for anyone else who wants to join.

This course is intended to be more like a workshop for writers. It will be tailored to the skill level of the participants. The Classes will meet once a week to follow-up on each other’s progress. A set of Milestones will be set-up during the first Classes and each subsequent Week will be an update/research/editing opportunity. The final Classes could include critiquing or group editing efforts.

The content of each person’s efforts will be up to them, as will the medium. There will be some initial discussion about possible topics and possible DIY efforts.

The Facillitator will endeavour to get some local Zine or Media personalities to talk about various efforts.

End Result of the Course is a possible zine, and also maybe some dowloadable PDF’s for the AnarchistU Web site. This is of course entirely up to the participants as to “what” the end result will be. (movie, documentary, simple article, post modern zine, whatever)

Classes should be limited to 5 or 8 people.

Week 1 – Discussion about zines/media; Brainstorm on possible topics (Bring your own Topic!)

Week 2 – set up schedule for rest of Classes. Overview of “researching”

Week 3 – Researching, Possible visit to the Metro Reference Library

Week 4 – Possible visit by local DIY expert

Week 5 – Possible Visit by local DIY expert

Week 6 – Possible Visit by local DIY expert

Week 7 – Possible Visit by local DIY expert

Week 8 – Possible Visit by local DIY expert

Week 9 – Present finished writing with partial readings

Week 10 – Present finished writing with partial readings
